Instead of getting the windows classic/xp menu, I get the windows 8 crap I installed this software to avoid. Is there something I am missing? Is there some setting I am forgetting?

Thanks

Alan

Right click the Start button, click Settings. Go to the Basic Settings tab (or if All Settings are shown, then the Controls tab). There you can configure what click or keystroke opens what. Set "Left click opens" to Classic Start Menu and other options as you want.

By default after Classic Shell is installed, it opens the Start Menu. Not sure what caused it to open the Start screen for you.

If you still have problems, tell us your version of Classic Shell and whether you have installed any other Start Menu replacement which may be conflicting with it.
