I know this has happened many time before by the post I have read but I have not found a solution to a problem in any post as of yet. My start menu icon "disappeared". I am using a Dell window 8, 32 bit system. I use MS Explorer 10 and Firefox search engines if that matters. Soon after I installed the Classic Start program the start-up icon that was placed on the task bar when I installed the program disappeared. The program is showing running in task manager and it's cleared in firewall but still gone. Has a solution to keep the shell icon on the task bar been found? If not, for those who have already traveled this road, what is the best way to access the program until a fix is found. Thanks for any help!:!:

Make sure of the following things:

1. The process named ClassicStartMenu.exe is running in Task Manager. If not, create a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe and copy the shortcut to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.
2. If you can access "Classic Start Menu settings" from the Start screen or menu, open them and on the "Start Button" tab, check that 'Enable Start button' option is checked.

You did not mention your Classic Shell version so you could also try upgrading to the latest version of Classic Shell: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/latestbeta That can also fix your problem.
