I find the Show Desktop button at the far right corner of taskbar rather annoying. Is there a way to completely hide/remove the useless button via Classic Start Menu settings? If not, I strongly suggest that this feature be included in future release.

7+ Taskbar Tweaker handles this quite brilliantly: http://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker

Thanks a lot, GauravK. I tried the tweak, and found out that it's not for me. The biggest problem is that you have to keep the program running in the background all time for it to work, which is something I don't like.

Classic Shell is also a program that is running in the background all time. So it won't work for you either.

You have a good point, and it is equally applicable to all the little things running in the background that make the computer humming along the way it does. But I guess everything in life is a matter of trade off. It's true CS always runs in the background, but its light footprint and overall feature set far outweigh the computer resources tied up with the program. The Show Desktop button is irritating and useless for me, but it is a far less evil compared to having a dedicated and memory hogging app running in the background. I appreciate your advice, but we don't have to agree.

You may be mistaken about the Classic Shell footprint. The exe is small, but it also doesn't do much. Its main purpose is to hook the Explorer process and wait for it to crash to rehook it again. The big stuff happens inside Explorer. I believe 7TT works the same way. Its main features work inside the Explorer process.
