Saw this vintage version image of Classic Shell Menu settings 1.0.2
Way before my time.
Talk about exponential settings growth with 4.3.0
Now hundreds of settings. :)

That's a pretty cool find you found there. I like seeing the history of things like that. I think I started using classic shell in either 2009, or 2010. I know for sure I used classic shell 1.9.2. Is there still a 'hotkey to use instead of the win key'? Hmm ^-^

Here's a quote from an old start menu .ini that you might find interesting: 'this file is used to customize the items in the classic start menu. You can add, remove or rearrange the items, as well as change their name, icon, and functionality. The possibilities are limitless.' I found it pretty awesome that Ivo was talking about a limitless start menu way back then. I think that the start menu items.ini I have was from classic shell 1.9.8. I'm not sure if this text was in the start menu .ini before then, but it's pretty impressive to read that though.

Nice of you to check out the historic versions.

Yeah the Classic Start Menu has evolved tremendously from its humble origins. It is now the most impressive and configurable Start menu ever.

All past settings mostly still exist. Why should they be removed? :P This is not a Microsoft product.  Users are certainly intelligent enough to set it up easily as they want without getting frightened by the number of settings.

Classic shell is pretty awesome, it's one of the first things that I install on windows. You're right that microsoft isn't that great when it comes to removing things. The classic theme was removed from windows 8, and 10, which I used on windows 7. There was a classic theme .exe for winodws 8 & 10 on thinkpad forums, but it seems to have been abandoned now.
