Hi

This morning Microsoft surprised me with a new W10 anniversary update.
After starting I got the message that Classic shell was removed as it was not compatible with the new update
When trying to download version 4.3.0 from download749.mediafire I am getting "This program is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer" I did not manage
to work around it.

please advise.

There should be a way to work around the browser message. Look for a button called "more" or "more options". Or try another browser.
Before you run the installer, make sure it has a proper digital signature. You can see it in the file properties in Explorer.

Thanks Ivo

Under windows 10 there is no more "More Options" available.

However I succeeded to download the file successfully from the alternative site "Fosshub"

Hm, that's weird, because the file should be exactly the same. As far as I know, Smart Screen looks at the file contents, not at the download location.

Smart Screen can be disabled. But I think Microsoft will combat CS hardly because they make money on the start menu tiles.

I had to reinstall CS 4.3.0 after the Anniversary update. It installed and runs fine, but every couple days the Windows notification display states that this program is not compatible and has been removed. It is NOT removed and continues to run fine, but for this message every few days.

I also have a Surface Pro (first gen) and installed the Anniversary update. On that system, after rebooting for the update, CS displayed a message that it needs to reset (or something like that. I cannot remember the exact wording). After clicking OK, everything worked fine. I do not get the compatibility notice on the Surface like I do in my desktop system. I'm wondering if there is a way to keep Windows from displaying the incompatibility notice. Not a big deal though as everything else works fine.

You could try downloading the latest Classic Shell from www.classicshell.net and installing it on top of the version you have.
