The latest and major Windows 10 system update KB3081455 may fail to install if you have deleted or rearranged certain Windows Links using Classic Shell. This recent update continually failed on both of my W10 machines and after searching around a couple of W10 forums I found a solution for it. The problem arises if you have moved, deleted or rearranged some or all of these Windows items - Windows Journal, Steps Recorder, Sticky Notes, Character Map (and possibly others). It can be fixed by running a Command Prompt (you'll need to right-click on it to 'Run as Administrator'), type in sfc /scannow and press 'Enter'. It takes some time to complete but when finished you should be able to run the update again and it will successfully install. After running the scan you'll see whatever links you had deleted or changed are back in the Classic Shell Start Menu. I will be leaving them in place as I don't want to run into this same problem again with future W10 updates.

to Microsoft Windows!!
