Classic shell will run just fine on windows 10, and there wont be much of a difference, other than the blur feature (which is quite nice for readability on transparent themes) Just make sure to update to the latest version of classic shell FIRST
In windows 10 you can now use modern apps like regular programs (aka in windows), and many of the full-screen interfaces were reworked. However I would consider it an overall step-up from 8 in most aspects. (7 on the other hand is still considered better than 10 by many users)

Windows 8 is better than Windows 10 in terms of the control it gives to the user. In Windows 10, a number of settings have been dumbed down or eliminated. Also many settings are moved to the new Metro Settings app. Tray applets are rewritten and are missing some functionality. Gadgets are gone. Media Center is gone. Control over updates is removed. Balloon notifications are gone and many Action Center notifications cannot be turned off. Internet Explorer is abandoned in favor of an overly minimalist browser called Edge which is like a prototype.
So unless you favor the oversimplified apps over more functional desktop programs which come built-in with Windows, do not upgrade to Windows 10. It just moves things around, makes them touch-friendly and mouse-unfriendly.
