Does Windows 10 (and maybe 8) have the necessary hooks to pull off an uninstall option when right-clicking, or is that restricted to the normal interface like live tiles are? It'd be nice to have if it's possible, it's much easier than digging through one of the settings menus. I'm currently still messing around with a new Windows 10 install, and I keep having to go into All Apps when I'd prefer to just avoid that menu entirely.

Uninstalling a program once you know the name is of course possible. The hard part is to determine which program it is just by looking at one of its shortcuts.
Uninstalling an app is another matter, and may be added in a future version.

Yeah, I asked partially because the classic start menu already seems to have a decent grasp on what apps are and how to handle them. I wouldn't really expect integrated desktop program uninstallation any time soon, if ever.

Actually, if you simply add a Custom folder item with the LINK target set to shell:ChangeRemoveProgramsFolder, you get a cascading menu list of "Programs and Features" Control Panel inside the Classic Start Menu.

From there you can right click and Uninstall any program. You don't even need to right click, you can left click too (since Uninstall is the default verb for this folder).

So uninstalling desktop programs directly from the Start Menu is already possible. :)

Classic Shell 4.2.5 adds an Uninstall command for Metro apps to the context menu. So now both, desktop apps and Metro app can be uninstalled from Classic Start Menu without opening an Explorer window.
