Guys,

Two questions.

1. How do I remove the 'All Programs' list from the Start Menu in Classic Shell? And after I have removed it, how do I get it back?

2. After I installed Classic Shell, I then unpinned the 'Start Screen' shortcut from the Start Menu, but later decided that I wanted it back.

Struggled for a bit, before I just discovered how to bring it back to the Start Menu. After I installed Win 8.1 Pro on the new laptop and before I
unpinned the 'Start Screen' shortcut from the Start Menu, the Start Screen shortcut showed all programs, including both Metro UI apps and
non-Metro UI apps (i.e. all standard Windows apps), but after I managed to discover how to bring the 'Start Screen' shortcut back to the Start
Menu, the 'Start Screen' shortcut now only shows all Metro UI apps only but not with the standard Windows apps (i.e. Notepad, Paint, Calculator,
etc.) included as well.

How do I make the 'Start Screen' shortcut show all programs, including both Metro UI apps and non-Metro UI apps, again like when I installed
Win 8.1 for the first time?

Which style of the menu are you using? Classic, Classic with two columns or Windows 7 style? You can only remove "All Programs" item from the Classic styles of the menu. To do that, go to Customize Start Menu tab of Settings, right click the Programs item in the left column and choose Delete Item. To get it back, drag it from the right column of Customize Start Menu tab to the left column and position it where you want it.

If you want to keep the All Programs list but simply remove its contents, you can right click "All Programs" inside the Start Menu and choose "Open" and "Open All Users". From Explorer, you can delete shortcuts you don't want but be careful, you can't restore them without reinstalling the app if you delete them permanently. You can also hide any shortcuts you don't want to show inside All Programs by setting the "Hidden" attribute on them from their Properties.

The Start screen is not modified by Classic Shell in any way. If you are not seeing desktop shortcuts there, they probably got moved or deleted. To restore the built-in shortcuts, you could try opening an elevated command prompt and run the command: sfc /scannow
