hello!

i kindly want to ask for your help.
i downloaded and installed classic shell, everything works fine.

now i want to change the start button. i downloaded these here:

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=192

if i now open the settings of classic shell, go to the design tab and open the folder to pick one of these custom
images it shows nothing in the folder - even if these start buttons are in bmp-format.

i extracted the bmp's into a skin-folder which i created inside of Classic Shell.

Why can't i see the bmp's to pick one of those? is there any other solution?

i find these start buttons very nice and would be happy to use one of them.

Or is this start button.bmp with the start button i want to use not anymore compatible with newest classic shell version?

I hope you understand what i mean and have a tip for me.

Cheers

rotaxt

did you select custom start button, then browse to the folder it is located at? bmps and pngs are still compatible with classic shell, so its either a bug, or incorrect procedure

yes i downloaded several buttons and extracted them into one folder.
when i try to change the start button i choose custom button, go to this folder,
but it says "no file found".

there are png's & bmp's inside, but classic shell does not show these images when i want to choose one of these...

Try this: find the image in explorer, go to the start buttons tab, after checking advanced, copy the filepath then add a \filename.extension to it

I am not entirely sure I understand what is happening. Can you show a screenshot of the window that says "no file found"?

Ivo I had the problem when i opened the folder where i copied the start-button-bmp's into that this folder seemed to be empty, they were
simply no files inside - but the images (files) were inside!

I copied the start buttons into a folder inside of classic shell on drive c: (windows drive).

It must have something to do with the rights management of windows that no images are shown.

If i for example copy these start buttons to another drive (partition) and open it to choose a custom start button it works and i am able to set another button.

So i was able to solve the problem.

Thanks for your help anyway guys :-)

Probably UAC virtualization is causing whatever program you are using to extract these to the wrong location if you are choosing a folder inside C:\Program Files\Classic Shell. Extract them instead to some folder like this: %localappdata%\ClassicShell\Buttons (C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\ClassicShell\Buttons).

Or run your archiver program as administrator and then extract the files.
