I run a lab environment where workstations are reimaged to a fresh state after rebooting. So user data is typically not kept on these workstations. Im testing this out with classic shell, and one thing I find when I login and click on the start button, the settings window open for Classic Shell start menu. I could see this getting irritating for the users and would like to prevent this from happening.
I have the Administrative policies installed but do not see anything that applies to this. Is there a policy or registry setting I can use to disable the popup of the settings window?

There is a Group Policy setting called Menu style under Computer Configuration branch.
You can also choose to edit the Registry directly instead. For a single user account which is currently logged in, create a DWORD value called "ShowedStyle2" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu and set it to 1 to prevent the settings window from popping up for that user account.
For the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE branch which affects all users, to suppress the initial opening of the settings, create a new string value MenuStyle_Default in HKLM\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu and set it to "Classic1", "Classic2" or "Win7" depending on which style you want to be the default.
The menu must be restarted after changing registry settings. You can exit it from the command line using: "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" -exit

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

Looks like that did the trick. In the Admin Templates settings I put Enabled and set to Windows 7 as the value.
