Hello,

In the Special Items tab, I would like to modify the Recent Documents options but this is grey and I can't change anything. (look on print screen)
Is it possible to be linked to a GPO?

Thanks.

That will be greyed out if an administrator on your PC has set the following registry value in HKLM to lock down the settings:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu]
"Documents"="Hide"

Classic Shell supports its own method of locking down settings similar to Group Policy, where settings if they are created in HKLM become enforced (like Group Policy) and if stored in HKCU behave like Group Policy Preferences.

Hello GauravK and thank you for your answer.

Indeed, I pushed a GPO that impacts this registry key.
I removed it, everything is normal now.

Is it still grayed out?
or are the radio buttons changeable, but not reflecting your choice?
If the latter; you may need to go to the 'Customize start menu' tab and create a new recent documents item.

You will have to exit Classic Start Menu once and restart it from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe or log off and login back, after deleting that registry key.

All registry keys are pushed by GPO, I must restart my session after a gpupdate /force in order to the settings take effect.

On the client computers where they are pushed, they must all log out/restart CSM before the settings take effect.

What are the contents of HKLM\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu registry key? That's all I care about. It is not important how the keys were set - GPO, admin action, etc.

Ok, I'm sorry, all informations above are in HKCU.
In HKLM, there is the registry key Documents Hide.

I removed the key and this time everything is back to normal.

Thank you very much. :D
