I have several programs on the from of my classic shell in the xp mode. With windows 7, you right click and you can delete them. However when I try to delete something, it doesn't seem to work. Is there another way?

The first two are in the recently used list. You can right-click and select "remove from list".

The second two are regular shortcuts. Look at the properties (right-click -> Properties) and see which folder the shortcuts are. Go there with Explorer and try deleting them.

Well, you should have opened with that :)
Capture a few crash dumps as explained here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6
and attach them to this thread.

Have these dumps been captured while the start menu was trying to show the right-click menu? I don't see anything about a context menu in them.

Here's what you need to do:
Open a command prompt and type "procdump -n 10 -s 1 explorer.exe" (don't press Enter).
open the start menu, right-click on some item. While the start menu tries to show the right-click menu, press Enter in the command prompt.

P.S. For control purposes, capture another set of dumps while the start menu is not open.
P.P.S. Also do this test - right-click on the start button and select Open. This should open the Start Menu folder in Explorer. Right-click on any of the items there and see if there is a similar freeze.
