Hi Ivo,

Thanks for your nice soft I am using on recently upgraded Win7 to Win10 x86.
I use the Windows 7 style which works fine except with some recent items.
Indeed, it is impossible to delete them despite I right-click on them to delete. Nothing happens.
These items are not pinned.

I have been looking everywhere (almost I guess...): Registry, AppData, ClassicShell program folder, etc...

Can you tell wat I should do to delete these items which are pointing to old and useless places?

Thank you for your help,

Lim.

Post a screenshot please of what you cannot delete? You can take a screenshot with the Printscreen key on your keyboard and then paste it into Paint and save the image as JPG or PNG.

Try pinning that same software to the taskbar, and see if you can work with the taskbar jumplist.

Looks like your jumplists are corrupted. On Windows 10, the setting to reset them is in Settings app -> Personalization -> Start. "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar". Turn it off and back on.

Don't pay attention of the empty left column. It's just a modification of the screenshot ;)
Anyway, I tried the off/on of th erecent list with a re-boot... and same, the 2 recent items are still there...

You can try deleting all the files from C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations. This should definitely clear them however as the names of files are encoded, you may have to delete all of them so all other recent file history in other programs will also get deleted (if that's OK).

Hi Gaurav,

I don't have exactly the same path. I have
C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Documents which doesn't have a folder icon but a special icon and which is empty anyway.

I have search for AutomaticDestinations in all AppData and it does not exist around here.

All this is strange...

It is a hidden folder. Paste this path into the Run dialog or Start Menu search and press Enter:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

Hi Gaurav
I managed to remove all the files in AutomaticDestinations except 2.
However, I dont have anymore these irrelevent items in the recent list.
But in fact, I don't have anymore the recent items column for that software at all. It means that I cannot pin any recent file, ven after starting the software several times.
And recent softwares used don't appear anymore in the left column...
Seems that the recent items feature (however software or files) has disappeared...
I tired to reinstall (repair) Classic Shell with a reboot: no change :(

You have to open a few files from Windows Explorer before they will appear again in the Recent jumplist.
