I have a strange problem that only happens on this computer running Windows 8.1 64-bit English.

When i have used Total Commander for some days it crash when i'm about to do background transfers (it crash when a small new window is about to open). It only happens on this computer running ClassicShell 4.2.5. It has been like this for many month now and Ghisler can't find the problem (no other reports have been made to Ghisler). I also have a similar problem with AirDC++. After i have used the context menus in AirDC++ they suddenly disappear and every program menu stops to work in AirDC++. When i then try to quit AirDC++ it sometimes quit but it can also be a background task so i will be forced to kill it in task managern. Same thing here, the developer of AirDC++ can't find any reason why it should do like this.

The only thing i can think of is ClassicShell because none of my other computers have this behaviour so everything points to ClassicShell. My computer works perfect except these two things.
My uptime is now over a month, but when this two things happens i only restart the program and it works again. Then it can work again for 10 days before it happens again, but it will happens sooner or later.

/Sopor

By "Classic Shell", do you mean the Start Menu or Explorer add-ons? You can temporarily exit the Start menu by right clicking the Start button. Also, disable the Explorer addons from Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Programs tab -> Manage add-ons. See if your problems go away.

So did you try exiting the Start Menu and see if the problems in AirDC++ and Total Commander go away after extended use? Classic Shell's Start Menu does not modify the behavior of other processes besides Explorer so it is unlikely to affect third party apps.

I have now been running without ClassicShell and Total Commander crashed for some days ago but AirDC++ is running perfect so far. I will run a few day more to be really sure about where the problem is.

You can get the Start Menu running again by opening C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe.
