Start icon overlays full-screen movies (Kodi). See screenshot for clarification.

Are you using the Aero button (replaced the Start button) or using the default one? Which OS?

This happens for me too when playing full screen video games. I can't say it happens with movies cuz I haven't watched any. This is an issue I periodically noticed on Windows 8 Pro x64, Windows 8.1 Pro x64, and now is common on Windows 10 Pro x64. Currently using ClassicShell 4.2.4. Happens on both my desktop and laptop computers, in different Steam games. I have a Custom Start Button. There are no other issues related to CS, and this is remedied easily by Alt+Tabbing and clicking back into the game, for me anyway. Can post screenshots if requested.

Is the taskbar set to auto-hide?

Just wanted to say that I have this problem with v4.2.4 and Star Wars the Old Republic (SWTOR). Whenever I launch SWTOR, I need to hit Alt-Tab twice to get the Classic Shell icon to go away.

The taskbar is NOT set to auto-hide. I didn't see this problem under Windows 8.1, but updated to Windows 10 a few days ago and now I have this problem.

FYI: The issue still exists :-)

Sincerely,
Archfrog

I did a small tweak in the new version 4.2.5 that may fix the problem. Please give it a try.

I have installed v4.2.5, but it did not help. The problem seems mostly unchanged, except you occasionally see the entire Task Bar, not only the Start Menu icon.

@Ogb, have you tried changing MPC-HC's Always on Top options and the Output options for video? Does selecting a different renderer make a difference? I am also a heavy user of MPC-HC and I can't reproduce your problem on my PC. Make sure your MPC-HC is also up-to-date.
