I enjoy clicking on the start icon on the desktop to open the program list. However, it also does the same thing when I tap the Windows logo on the device itself.
How can I make this icon go to the new start menu instead?

right click the start button, go to settings then basic settings tab should have the options you're looking for It should be labeled "Windows key opens", and it should be noted that this also affects the windows key on a keyboard as well as the one built into tablets.

Awesome, thank you very much. I found that it is specifically as follows:
Right click start>Controls tab>Under the Windows Key opens section, choose Windows start screen.
Clicking the start button on the desktop will open the program list, and tapping the windows button or tablet button will bring up the new start screen.
