First of all I want to thank you very much for that great program. I really like Windows 8 and really don't like ModernUI.

Because I think that this is not a bug I placed my posting in the request forum.

I use the newest beta of CS together with Windows 8.1. Also I use Modernmix from Stardock. (Didn't find a good alternative yet.)

As long as a ModernUI App is open on the desktop, the buttom left corner is active and so the "start button" appears when I point there with the mouse. After closing all ModernUI Apps AND clicking on the multi bar or on the CS start button, the hot corners are deactivated again.

I know there's a thread regarding this issue, but it didn't solve the problem, perhaps because of the newer 8.1 version. I tried out some tools that all didn't work. Except "killmetro" worked, but that deactivates ModernUI completely.

Perhaps someone has an idea or it could be an option in a future version of CS. Stardock claims this won't hapen together with Start8, but I really don't like Start8.

Thank you!

I don't understand the problem. Classic Shell does not affect the corners when you are not on the Desktop.
What is the behavior you see, and what is the behavior you expect?

That was a fast answer. :D

Using Modernmix, the ModernUi Apps appear as windows on the desktop. As long such an App is open in a desktop window, the hot corners are activated. If I want to click on the Classic Start Menue button it can happen, that I get down to much so that the Windows 8 start button appears. Could be, that the system thinks that I am not on the desktop as long a ModernUI App is shown in a Modernmix window.

I will make some pictures to show.

Personally I think the option to disable hot corners on the desktop should be part of ModernMix as well. You could try asking in Stardock's forums as they can make disabling hot corners work with their own app aka ModernMix better.

Personally I think that you are right! :) Reading in the forum of Stardock I found others with the same problem, but Stardock just says, that it works together with Start8.

Perhaps someone will find a workaround when the final version of 8.1 will be there. (Eg to kill the hot corners completely.)

Was gonna post, but then it turned into an anti-star docks rant :P, so ill just cut that bit out :)
@the thread regarding this issue; that was me :)
also display fusion has this feature to (though with less features currently)

Display fusion really listens to their community, so if theres any specific things missing from the current settings theres a good chance you can get them to at least consider adding them :)

OK, I solved it, even it was a little tricky, but only a little.

It seems to me, that skipmetrosuite can't activate as long you have in any other Programm the same functions activated.

I got back to 8.0 to test it. Disabled in CS both functions to boot into desktop and to deactivate the corners. Also disable Skipmetrosuite. Reboot. Then enable Skipmetrosuite, with all functions. Reboot.

At this point the Skipmetrosuite worked, but it's a Little slower than CS. For a Moment you can see the start Screen and when the Desktop is showing up it Needs half a second (or so) to disable the Corners. But now it was possible to reanable both functions in CS also and it works now together with Modernmix without Problem. And because of the enabled CS functions, I don't see the start Screen when booting and the Corners are disabled as soon as the Desktop Shows up.

Yeah!

So I think it should be possible, too with 8.1 if you disable also first the same Features that come with 8.1 (booting to Desktop and top Corners)

(Sorry for capital letters, it's the shitty Internet Explorer. I didn't install yet another because I wanted to test this.)

Unfortunately there's a problem with my Wlan stick so I will stay at 8.0 first.

I knew I couldn't sleep, so I went back to 8.1 again. :D

Works on 8.1,too with method mentioned above. But also, what I forgot to mention, you need to turn off switching between apps in the PC settings.

Have a nice time!

IIRC, the latest Skip Metro Suite completely kills the hot corners for the remainder of the Windows session until you restart meaning they stop working even in Metro. Not an idea solution but may work for ModernMix. :)

You can try Winaero Charms Killer: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.219 instead of Skip Metro Suite.
