I know that you can export / import menu settings, but I do not see a toggle for 'do not notify of updates' or similar

When an update is available, you are prompted with the option to 'no longer be notified' of updates -- but I was wondering if this is available in the settings as well.

If not -- then either 'autoupdate or no update' would be a feature request.

Please advise.

There is an option in the updater itself. Run the Classic Shell Update tool and uncheck "Automatically check for new versions".
You can also run the installer again and remove the updater component.

I was hoping for something in the configuration file -- so I wouldn't have to wait for the update dialogue.

If you hit 'check for updates' after install - is it prompted there?

I don't understand the question. To check for updates after install you have to run the updater. That's where the checkbox is.

The thing is the configuration file is per component. The update settings are shared. So they are in no particular configuration file.

So, after install, I can hit 'check for updates' and get the dialogue I am looking for.

That will work.

But there is no such feature "check for updates". You need to run Programs\Classic Shell\Classic Shell Update.
Or don't. The first time a new version is detected you will get a popup, click on it and you'll get to the updater.

If you want to automate the disabling of update notifications for Classic Shell, merge this reg directly:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicShell\Settings]
"Update"=dword:00000000

Although it's recommended that you keep them on as new versions always bring enhancements.
