I've been using Metro Glass.skin for windows 8. But that skin doesn't work togheter with the new WindowBlinds 7.91, making the menu text all black with no text or black text on it,
so it's not readable.

I want a black menu with white text on it, so i can read the menu text. (of course)

So i need some help on how do i make a black menu, the background black and the menu text white, or near white.
I've read the tutorial but i can't get it to work.

I use windows 8 pro x64 and latest classic shell version.

Thanks, but that is the skin i already have that doesnt work cus the text is also black.
I'm using WindowBlinds too and that makes the menu text black, proberbly because of the windows 8 stupid colorscheme,
so black bakground black text = not readable. :/
I need the menu skin text to be White so i can read it.

so the text for that skin is black for you?,its white for me, which im fairly certain is the color its suposed to be,
Main_text_color=#F0F0F0,#F0F0F0,#F0F0F0,#F0F0F0
this variable within the skin sets the text color to a very light gray.., so window blinds has to be modifying the text color, try looking through its settings...

attached is a photo of the background from my desktop

Thanks for your reply.Yes mine is all black text and thats the problem. When i disable WindowBlinds then its White text and all looks good.
Yes i see now it's a WindowBlinds problem with some setting in the skin itself.
The WindowBlinds skin i use is INVI E4 - 007 Tinar , here:
http://007tinar.deviantart.com/gallery/25343322

Those skins are black but have grey text which is very strange that the Classic Shell startmenu skin gets all black text.
I have looked trough the settings in WindowBlinds i just cant find the right setting for it to fix
I've also put Classic Startmenu in exlusion list in WindowBlinds but didn't make any difference:o/

Try the "smoked glass" and the "full glass" skins. They should also show white text (unless WindowBlinds overwrites it somehow).

Excluding ClassicStartMenu.exe will do nothing, because the start menu really lives inside the explorer.exe process.

Thanks for the reply.I've tried those skins too with the same result.
Ok didn't know that it lives inside the Explorer.exe.

I have Skinstudio but i dont know what to change there in skinstudio within the skin.

This is not easy. If i change the windows 8 color scheme to something Bright like White then the menu gets grey and text is still black but then readable.
I just can't get the menu black with White text.

aside from something in window blinds, maybe you can make the background color something other than black?, or maybe install a theme/skin with text glow, to increase readability

I really dislike glow effect in text. I want clear Sharp text.
I have changed the color scheme in windows 8 to White, which makes the menu grey, and the text is black instead of White,
(weird, but whole win 8 color scheme is weird) but that is readable with grey atleast.

Well i guess i have to try to figure it outsomehow.

Thank you all for the replies.
I appreciate it.

I can help clarify the problem.
I installed shell. I then enabled Aero. Result, Dark Grey / Black start Menu and light grey sub menu's off the start menu.
I then installed Window Blinds and chose Acrylic 7 Skin. Then, when I went to my start menu I noticed that the text color for my start menu had changed from white to a dark grey / black colour.
Looking in the Window Blinds colour config I found a setting to change it, skin colour :text normal-pressed.
The only problem is, this setting changed the colour for both the start menu AND the start menu sub menu's.
Prior to installing Window Blinds there seems to have been two configuration options, Start menu text colour and Start menu sub menu text colour.
After installing Window Blinds (I don't know this for a fact, I haven't looked, but I'm willing to bet im right) I would say that the configuration option skin colour: text normal-pressed from Window Blinds is probably over writing BOTH registry keys that allow independent configuration of these two configuration options.
The problem I have is that if I make the text white, I can see my start menu text but not my start sub menu text, and if I make the text black, I can see my start menu sub menu text, but not my start menu text.
I think star dock / Window Blinds need to include both configuration options instead of just having one configuration option that overwrites multiple registry keys.

Course I could be wrong. Feedback appreciated. Cheers,
Hadyn

Window Blinds is a Stardock product. How is it related to Classic Shell?

I think Window Blinds is overwriting the color of all text indiscriminately. See if it has any options to exclude certain programs or windows from reskining.

Hi there,

I think I figured out how to fix the problem with WindowBlinds that makes menu items font too dark to be seen. This problem was posted on the Stardock forums where in fact I posted a solution:
