I'm asking for help in opening Classic Shell. It's already downloaded and used every day, but today, May 21, every time I click on it, Windows won't open it, claiming it is unsafe. Windows gives no help in using Classic Shell whatsoever. They've blocked it at will. I'm stuck with Windows Charms and don't want them nor know how to use them.

There were two new versions of Classic Shell released today - 4.2.5c and 4.2.6 beta.
If you want the latest and greatest, or if you are using the Redstone previews of Windows 10, go for 4.2.6.
4.2.5c has the exact same functionality as version 4.2.5 but it is signed with the latest digital certificate. The old one expired earlier this week. It is possible that's why Windows is complaining about the version you have.

I started running into this last week as well. It only seemed to happen to me right after a Windows 10 Upgrade. If I had classicshell installed prior to the upgrade, Windows would warn:

"This Application has been blocked for your protection. An Administrator has blocked you from running this application. For more infomation, contact the Administrator. ClassicStartMenu.exe -upgrade Not Trusted."

Classicshell continued to run though, but on some boxes would make this warning appear each time the computer restarted. I was able to work around it by uninstalling/reininstalling Classicshell.

Glad to know it was something fixable because I thought it was odd that it just started happening out the blue.

I think I found a solution to Windows blocking Classic Shell, with a suggestion by Powellap (thank you), though it took about 5 hours. I downloaded a newer version of Windows 10 than the original, and also re-downloaded Classic Shell. This time Windows didn't block it. Sometimes when Windows offers an update, they apparently steer you away from Apps other than their own, and toward their proprietary Apps, like Charms. I've come to dread Windows updates as this has happened before. Downloading the current Windows 10 also required re-setting and re-configuring my entire setup, which is ongoing. Ultimately, Charms may be as good as Classic Shell, but I prefer Classic Shell, and wish Windows would not undo what works well.

hello,

it just happened to me again, so it seems to be after each main windows updates, so the only solution is to download classicshell manually ?

thanks.
