Having problems with classic shell start button/menu.

Brand new windows 10 laptop, home edition. Installed classic shell OK and it works when computer boots up. After pressing the start button, it no longer works. The start button depresses and then nothing happens. The taskbar locks up and when the curser is placed over the start button, all I get is the revolving circle. I have to sign out and then sign back in to get the start button to work again. I have un-installed classic shell and Windows start button and menu works OK. I know classic shell works on Win10 as I have another laptop where classic shell function seamlessly.

Which build of Windows 10 are you running (find out using this method: http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-find-the ... e-running/) and what is your exact Classic Shell version? If your build is older, update to the latest available stable build via Windows Update and also make sure you are using the latest Classic Shell.

Thought it had been fixed, with latest Win 10 build home edition and the latest Classic Shell, but still have problems. No problem with the Win 10 start/tablets.

It completely locks up the toolbar, icons don't work, clock stops and the start button appears to depress and then nothing. Evenually I manage to right click and exit classic shell and it reverts to WIN 10 start and toolbar unlocks. I have been control-alt-delete to enter task manager, change users, come back in as the same user and the shell works again, once, then locks up.

If you can capture a slowdown dump using these instructions: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6 it can be fixed if the cause can be determined by Ivo analyzing the dump.

HKLM=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting. You could also try creating a dump using the first method.
