The Classic Start Menu is enabled to start automatically, but it doesn't work. I see no change to the Windows 10 start menu that I hate more with each passing day. Please help. I'd love to donate some money to the cause if I could get this to work. I tried re-installing. Thanks, Jim

Does it work if you manually launch ClassicStartMenu.exe?

No, I'm afraid not. Nor does it work if I run as administrator.

You should not run the start menu as administrator. In fact, if you set the exe to run as admin by default, it will most likely not run automatically.
Is it possible your AV software is blocking it? See if you can add an exception for it.

It's a new computer with just Windows Defender for now. I tried making an exception for classicstartmenu.exe, then disabled Defender completely. No luck. Sigh... Am I the only one who's had a problem with this product and Windows 10?

It works with Defender without having to create an exception rules.

Go to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell and launch the shortcut called "Start Menu Settings".

The Settings window will come up. Check "Show all settings" at the top and go to Controls tab. Make sure "Left click opens" and "Windows key opens" is set to "Classic Start Menu". Click OK.

To start the menu automatically every time (if it doesn't start normally), go to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell and create a shortcut to ClassicStartMenu.exe. Cut-paste that shortcut to C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

Yes! I was afraid it was something simple. The left-click setting wasn't checked. Is that enabled by default? I don't think I unchecked it, but I could be wrong. Thanks so much to Gaurav and Ivo for your help and your quick responses. Donation coming soon. I believe in supporting freeware.

It's selected by default. You must have changed it. :)
