Is there any way to remove the separator between the special items (like Control Panel) and the rest of the items (see image)?

Open Classic Start Menu Settings and use the Backup button to "Save to XML file..." a copy of your settings. Attach/upload the XML here so we can know your menu configuration. The separator can be removed once we know how you have configured it.

Oh OK from your Settings, it is clear that "Control Panel" is an item you have added using the Customize Start Menu tab. Such items will always have a separator from file system folders. What you can do is:

1. Go to Customize Start Menu tab in Start Menu settings and remove the Control Panel item by right clicking it -> Delete and click OK.
2. Then press Win+R keys to bring up the Run dialog and type there: control and press Enter. The Control Panel will open.
3. Now drag the icon of the Control Panel *in the address bar* over the Start button and do not let go of the left mouse button while dragging. If you drag and hold the Control Panel address bar icon over the Start button, the menu will open. Now continue dragging over the Programs folder and it will expand. Drop it finally inside the Programs folder.

The item you add this way will appear without a separator. Now you can rename it as you want and position it up and down anywhere you want.

When I dropped it I got an "You can't make a shortcut here. Do you want to place a shortcut on the desktop?" (translated from norwegian).

But I'll try making the shortcut on the desktop, and then locate the Start Menu folder in Explorer and move it there to see if that works...

Update: Was just missing "write" rights. Works now :-)

Update 2: But wait. The new "Contrl Panel" entry does not expand into a sub-menu like the original (and sub-folders do). But that I guess is the same problem as I asked about in another thread, so I guess that can be fixed somhow, right?

The new "Kontrollpanel" item expand after I changed the global setting.
BUT there is a new problem (see attached image).
Some of the element inside the control panel expands into an empty sub-menu for some reason.
And they are not clikable (clicking them just open up the empty sub-menu).

Yep that's a Windows bug. It should not show certain folders like that as expandable menus but it does. You can double click the folder instead to open it or right click it and choose "Open".
