I want a complete black menu, so i have set it to solid color black, but i can't get rid of the white border around it.
How do i get rid of that white thin frame around the menu?
(the red arrows points to them as shown in the screenshot.)
I don't understand which code that is i have to change to get it total black without frames?
I'm using Resource hacker.
Help appreciated!

Which skin are you using and which style of the menu?

I didn't get any white border for the Metro-Glass skin (by mpu) when I set my Aero color to Black.

What is the exact skin you are using? Where did you get it from? There is no skin named "Metro-Glass" that comes with the default installation.
Also, what version of Windows do you have?

I don't know of any skin named "Metro-Glass". Possibly it was created by somebody and posted on this forum.
I need the exact link that you used to download it.

I don't know or remember where that link was here.
Well, can you tell me which code that decides the framecolor around the menu?
So i know what to look for. That would been a great help.

The Metro Glass skin is here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=110. @Corso, please tell which version you downloaded as there are 2 of them in that post. One that says "For Classic Shell Version < 3.9" and the other "For Classic Shell Version >= 3.9". The one I tried was "For Classic Shell Version >= 3.9" and I didn't get any white border after making the menu black. Also how did you make the menu black? By changing the menu glass color via Windows Personalization settings or by editing some skin parameter?

Yes thanks i have that one too and it doesn't show any White border.
But the problem with that skin is the menu text is blurry!
How can i change that skins menu text so the menutext is not blurry and clear and Sharp?

You can try changing the font smoothing. Open Classic Start Menu settings. In the search box of the settings window, type: font and change the font smoothing from ClearType to Standard.

It's already on ClearType in settings.
When using glass background in the skin i get this fragile, fuzzy blurry menutext.

Hi Corso.
I don't have time to help you, but I found a fuzzy look on some skins if opacity is not alpha.
See picture. Is this the kind of blurry?
The left was either full glass, or region. The right was alpha.

Hi juniper7
Thanks for the reply!
I've tried them all opcacity fullglass, glass, alpha etc..
but still the menutext looks weak, kinda fragile. Hard to explain.
When i put the cursor over the menutext the text gets "filled in" and looks right.
But when closing the menu and reopen it it looks the same again. It's weird.
I've attached a screenshot.

The skin is Metro Glass. I've set the opacity to solid, when in solid the menutext is correct! See attached pic.
But then i get that annoying White frame around the menu. When setting the opacity to glass or fullglass or alpha, then the text gets thin and all that i explained.
In the screenshot the text and menu is right, except that White frame around it i don't wanna have.
So i don't understand why it gets like that. I just can't figure that out.

All I know is, solid makes auto border with grey 100/255. Yours is close to 190/255
Don't know if there is a way to disable it.
I know there is a setting to make 2 pixel 3d border on on Win7 and a mod on Win8.
Sorry can't help. Only the masters know stuff like that.

Might have to use a bitmap again, without any built in border, and opacity other than solid,
and turn off clear type, as GauravK suggested.

You were right about the alpha. This time it worked.
I started over edited the skin from scratch and this time it worked.

Thanks everyone for the support!
Much appreciated.
