So i see a games menu on classic start and i click it and windows ask me if i want it to update games which of course i left it defualt but then it says it can't update them so i guess that's because they are not provided by windows lol, except one which the windows store does, But when i go to the folder itself on my hard drive there not even in there?. So is this simulated folder by classic shell start menu? As like i said these are not even in the games folder its so weird.

Since you mentioned the Store, I assume you are using Classic Shell on Windows 8/8.1. The Games folder was retained by Microsoft in that OS but all of the classic games themselves were removed. Classic Start Menu's job is to only show the Games folder, not to revive the Games.

To get back the Windows 7 games, see these articles:
- Get Windows 7 games for Windows 10 (applicable to Windows 8 as well)
- How to bring back Windows 7 classic internet games on Windows 8

To put back the actual games shortcuts inside the Games folder, locate the EXE of the game, right click it and click Copy. Then open the Games folder by right clicking it in the Start Menu -> Open. Right click in an empty area of the Games folder and click "Paste shortcut".

I don't understand what's happening on your PC. Classic Start Menu shows the contents of the Games folder as a menu. If the folder itself is empty in Explorer, it should show empty in the Start Menu as well. If you are seeing some Games inside the menu, their shortcuts must be stored somewhere else.

Windows 8 itself does not ship with any games out-of-the-box unlike Windows 7 so unless you paste some shortcuts inside the Games folder in Explorer, it will be empty.

Huh these are Steam and Origin games. I wish I knew what folder and where it was located its got me puzzled now lol. maybe the folder i looked at was not this one but it has me wondering as to why they are in a Games folder as i did not put them there unless Steam and Origin did and it's only some not all of them.

Well like I mentioned above, there is a way to put them inside the Games folder which you are saying is empty.

1. Right click the Steam or Origin games shortcut and click COPY.
2. Right click the Games folder and click PASTE.
