Have you logged out and logged in again after enabling the setting? Also, Windows has a limit on the number of overlay icons that it can show. In Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers and see if there are more than 15 of them. In that case, it may not show.

I see DropBox and Google Drive in your screenshot - which I know both add their own overlay icons.

Only 'ShareOverlay' is from Classic Shell. SharingPrivate is a Windows built-in one that is shown when you click "Share with nobody". SharingPrivate is removed in Windows 8. You could try deleting the ones you don't need to see to bring the total count below 15.

Try following the steps here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#explorer_toolbar to make sure all Classic Shell addons are enabled in IE Options.

Grrrr, still no luck.
Yes the IE add-ons are enable & 3rd. party too.
Could it be because I didn't install Classic Start Menu?

@bazzacad, can you please try if Classic Shell 4.0.4 works for you to show the share overlay icon? There was a change in version 4.0.5 and later in the way the share overlay icon was shown and that might be causing it to not show.

I have the same problem with my NAS Server, but i think that is the type of the NAS.

Synology show custom icons on any share folder from Synology.
Zyxel cannot show any custom icon from any share folder from Zyxel.

If anyone knows why......?
