Hi,

after the update from "windows 8 pro" to "8.1 pro" and the update of classic shell 4.0.2 starts classic shell only at the second boot.
Windows crashes on start - reboot - classic shell works - reboot - windows crashes ???
After deinstall classic shell windows runs normal.
Even if classic shell start directly after uninstall with "ClassicStartMenu.exe" it is the same.

What is to do?

regards
helferlein

Are you saying that running "ClassicStartMenu.exe" manually it still crashes? If so, try to capture a crash dump as explained here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6

By the way, after an in-place upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1, you are supposed to do a Repair install of Classic Shell for it to start and work properly. If you've done that and it still doesn't reliably start or crashes, then capture the crash dump and upload it here. :)

Hi, i found the reason.

disable "Quickstart in energie options" (windows default) and it works.

In German:
Systemsteuerung\Hardware und Sound\Energieoptionen\Systemeinstellungen

Schnellstart aktivieren: disable
