In the past, clicking on any Taskbar icon would hide that app/page. Now, nothing happens...EVER. I am VERY frustrated, and cannot find ANY mention of this problem anywhere. Please help!

Taskbar behavior is not modified by Classic Shell except for skinning it.

But MANY other items that interact with the Taskbar DO...such as the Start Button and the design of the button, as well as other icons. And after completely uninstalling Classic Shell, the problem goes away. I would not be here if I was not CERTAIN that somehow CS is involved. I am a computer store owner (since 1995), and have been working on and with computers since the mid-1970s, including for years as a programmer and debugger. I do not want to decompile this program, or to cram its code looking for problems. I DO want to ask the CS community what they think so as to save time and to see if this has happened to anyone else.

Is that a problem?

Can you show a screenshot or video of the problem to help us better understand it? Clicking a taskbar icon opens that app if it's not running. If it is running, it minimizes it when items are not combined.

Simply exiting the Start menu is enough to undo its effects (right click Start button -> Exit) without uninstalling Classic Shell.

Also, in your video, show us the problem with Classic Start Menu running. Then exit it and show the same problem going away to help us understand what's happening.
