Digging around today came up Server 2012 is pretty much Win 8 compatible so CS should work.
I'll be off site for a couple of days so may well try it then.

I tried a search but failed, "too many common terms". If I set up Server 2012 as a Workstation, i.e. bells and whistles a la Windows 8 will Classic Shell install and run OK? |

Yes, Classic Shell should work on servers. If you have any issues you can report them here. |
