I have been unable to change the width of the navigation pane in classic explorer under Windows 10. There is no drag bar. Using the classic explorer settings, I can display a horizontal scroll bar but this is not what I want. I have tried multiple settings but there is no drag bar in any of them to widen the navigation pane. Is there something I'm missing or a registry edit to set the width?

There should be a vertical line that you can select. It is very thin though, so you have to be careful with the mouse.

It's not there. I have used it many times in the past and know what to look for. It's been gone since upgrading to Windows 10 and the Classic Explorer Shell.

I can't seem to get the screenshot to show here but here's the link:

I assure you, there's nothing to see. I know what a drag bar is an it is not there. I have tried it with "show horizontal scrollbar" set to default, disabled and enabled. Nothing...

Try dragging the right edge of the vertical scrollbar - does the mouse pointer not turn into a horizontal double headed arrow?

No, it does not. If I hover over one of the columns in the file pane, it does, so I know what to look for. It does not change when I hover over any point on the vertical scroll bar, right or left side.

Temporarily disable the Classic Explorer addon. Go to Internet Options -> Programs tab -> Manage Add-ons. Disable Classic Explorer Bar and ExplorerBHO Class. Reopen the Explorer window and see if you can adjust the navigation pane spacing. If not, then your problem is not caused by Classic Shell.

If you can adjust it after disabling Classic Explorer, re-enable those addons and open Classic Explorer Settings. Use the big "Backup" button to save your settings to XML and upload/attach them here.

Problem solved! It has something to do with Windows 10 theme settings. I disabled Classic Explorer and the problem persisted. i changed the theme to one of the built-in Windows 10 themes and the navigation pane suddenly became resizable. Changed back to the previous theme and the problem reappeared. Some setting in the theme was causing the problem. Anyway, I re enabled classic explorer and everything is working fine except... The classic explorer icons and bar that WERE in explorer previously are not there any more. I tried rebooting and ensuring Classic Explorer Bar and ExplorerBHO Class are enabled. They are but still no classic explorer settings icon.

You have to enable the toolbar from the View tab of the Ribbon -> Options button if it's disabled and re-enabled from IE Options.
