O.S. = Windows 7 Pro. x64

For the settings in Classic Explorer I chose 'Hide search box' (next to the Address box) in Windows Explorer. I'm glad it's out of the way as it takes up too much space and cramps the Address Box.

Now I have a problem, how do I do searches of a given folder/drive etc. Does anyone know the answer to this? (I'm totally new to Win7 so don't know the solution to this problem.)

Im not sure on windows 7, but try ctrl+F or win+S they behave the way you would need on windows 8

You could get FileLocator Lite which is like the classic XP search: https://www.mythicsoft.com/filelocatorlite . Or search from the Classic Shell Start Menu but that will only search files in indexed locations. See this guide on Start Menu search box usage: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1588

Classic Start Menu supports a simple type of file filtering. For example, if you want to find all EXE files beginning with 'c' in a folder, type this: C:\Windows\system32\c*.exe. But it doesn't search sub-folders.
