Post subject: | removing Menubar ? |
hello I use Win 7, and I simply loove classic explorer plugin I ditched taskband as I never see any use of it, same goes for Menubar (File, Edit, Tools) so my question is, can classic explorer buttons (its toolbar) exist without Menubar, or can it be set like that ? (how ?) or should this go to feature request ? ![]() |

No, but you can move the toolbar to overlap the menu so just the File menu is visible. |

But isn't there an option in Folder Options -> View tab: "Always show menus"? Unchecking that should hide the menu bar unless Alt is pressed. |

qtttabs bar has an option to hide the menu bar; and you can basically disable almost every other feature if you wanted... |

I don't see what the issue is. Windows has a built-in option to hide the menu bar in Folder Options. |

yes but classic explorer over-writes its "value" I just think it would be nice for CE to have its own "toolbar", independent of explorer/ie one without the menu's (just pure buttons) |

Classic Explorer does not do anything to the Explorer menu bar. I think the toolbars have gotten mixed up on your PC (due to a known Explorer bug). To fix them, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser and delete the ITBar7Layout value and they will be correctly fixed. Classic Explorer is an independent toolbar in Explorer. |

that removes completely menu bar including classic explorer one atleast on my system (win7 sp1), menubar must "be there" for CE to be there too CE may have its own toolbar separated so user can move it left or right or down but removal of explorer toolbar itself removes CE too :/ |

About the command bar: it meant it can't be removed without modifying system files. ![]() As for menu bar, I can't figure out the issue. All of the methods mentioned in the SevenForums article work for me on Windows 7 x64. |

Yes you can, and i have personally had in both w7 and w8. you can use QTTabs bars option to remove the menu bar without using any of its other features. Although it has some nice other features ;P, most notibly are the bookmarks bar (lets you drag/drop files onto your bar to use like bookmarks for your browser, tabs for keeping all your windows organized and together, and a file preview tool. Attached is a screenshot of my current explorer in windows 8; with No file menu and classic explorer toolbar on the far right. (Note aside from classic explorer and QT tabs bar, I also have clover, and a custom theme designed to look like windows 7)

Indeed it would be nice if a single program solved everything, but the amount of features alone would make it hard to navigate. not to mention some things arnt needed/wanted by everyone.., but yea windows itself should be more easily customizable, rather than having to dig into the registry.. just to tweak basic UI settings.. |
