Hi. I'm a recent covert from XP to Windows 7 (Professional), and I've spent a lot of time trying to replicate the appearance (and functionality) of XP in W7. And thanks to Classic Shell, I've been able to do that in most areas. So first and foremost, thank you for creating such an ingenious utility!

So here's my last remaining problem: I still can't get the items in my Explorer folders to be closer together vertically, without all that airiness that Windows 7 creates.

--I tried a little utility called Folder Options X (here), which worked fine -- until I discovered that it disabled the Contents view in my search function, which I often need. So I uninstalled that.
--I tired to adjust the horizontal spacing in Windows 7's Colors and Metrics tool, but no matter what numerical figure I entered in the box, it still didn't change the spacing in my folders (that confounded me!).
--And, of course, I tried reducing the number in Classic Shell's tree-item-spacing to a negative number, but that didn't seem to work either.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Unless you use Folder Options X (or similar tool which forces Explorer to use the old List View Control), you can't reduce item spacing in the file pane. It doesn't have content view but it does have something called Extended Tiles view which is similar, although not the same.

Only the new ItemsView control which Windows 7 uses for Libraries has Content view. But it has wider spacing.
