I'm running on Win 8.1.

Your screenshot of Explorer on your Home page shows it has a classic menu | File | Edit | View | Tools | Help | followed by your customizable toolbar on same line. Above which is the Address & Search boxes to L of which are the Back, Forward and Up big arrows.

Yet on my Win 8.1 Explorer with the Classic Explorer, The menu is only | File | Home | Share | View | Manage | each of which brings up an obscuring ribbon instead of the usual drop down menu. This is above the Address & Search boxes line, below which is your customizable toolbar.

Is there any way to get rid of the ribbons and get back to drop down menus? Can the customizable toolbar be put on the same line as the menu?

Is it that the screenshot on Home page is of Win 7 & it can't be done for Win 8.1?

I'm sure I've seen some special folders' Explorer like this but I can't remember which.

EDIT: Just found such a folder. It's My Contacts. It has the menu I described in 2nd para leading to drop-down menus & I can pull customizable toolbar onto same line :). What's special about that folder?

Yes that screenshot is of Classic Explorer on Windows 7.

For Windows 8, you have 2 options to disable the Ribbon: Winaero's Ribbon Disabler (http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.20 which patches the file on disk) or OldNewExplorer (http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170375- ... win78-one/ which does in-memory patching). Use any at your own risk. Classic Shell is not responsible for any thing that may happen to your system from third party app recommendations.
