Ivo, please consider trying to find a way to place a glow behind the title of File Explorer windows.

I know I've asked this before. I know it doesn't fit that well with what ClassicShell does for File Explorer now. I imagine this is a low priority, because probably fairly few folks (so far) use Aero Glass to facilitate a dark appearance...

But you DO already provide the option to add a glow behind the background in Internet Explorer.

Please reconsider seeing if there's a way to add a glow for File Explorer as you've already done for Internet Explorer.

Are you on windows 8? because I believe 8.1 'solves' the readability problem by highlighting the titlebar text (though I would still greatly prefer white text with a black outline, over this/glow any day.

The reason Classic IE has the text glow is because its based on windows 7's internet explorer which has certain theme elements hardcoded into it...

Thanks for your response Jcee.

I'm on Windows 8.1.

My understanding is that a custom theme can supply a glow for ribbon window title backgrounds, but the stock Windows 8.1 Aero theme does not have it. I don't know what custom theme you're using, but I don't run a custom theme. I use only the theme atlas replacement facilities of Aero Glass for Win 8.1. Basically this does not violate system protection and doesn't actually replace the programming of the theme, just a few graphic elements. It's very stable.

As far as I understand it, the reason Classic IE has both the title and the text glow is that Ivo programmed the display of same, based on the settings in the Title Bar tab. Now that tools are becoming available to restore Aero Glass to Win 8, which I expect to get more popular, the same kinds of things could be useful in File Explorer. One could imagine, for example, disabling the File Explorer title display entirely and configuring it to be displayed by Classic Shell along with a glow. It wouldn't be the first UI element Classic Shell has replaced entirely!

Anyway, thanks for considering my plea.

The reason classic IE has the title/text glow is because it is based off the windows 7 version of internet explorer (though I may be wrong)... which has those elements hardcoded in...

The theme i use is: http://xxinightxx.deviantart.com/art/Ae ... -413881040
And custom themes doesn't break system integrity (I can still run sfc without any errors)

NoelC is correct. Classic IE draws the caption of IE according to your settings. It is possible for IE for two reasons - 1) it doesn't draw any caption, so the area is free for me to use. 2) unlike other programs, the "title" area of IE is actually part of the window contents and is possible to draw into it.

There are no plans to do anything for other programs like Explorer or Word Pad, which draw their own custom captions.

In other news, OldNewExplorer 1.0.5 added the ability to hide Explorer caption icon and text: http://tihiy.net/files/OldNewExplorer.rar
