Hi,

I'm using Classic Shell 3.6.8 with Windows 7.

I am seeing slightly strange behaviour in Windows Explorer with Classic Explorer installed.

If I select a folder in the Navigation Pane, and I press the Down arrow, I would expect the next folder down in the Navigation Pane to be highlighted. That's certainly what happens in XP.

It actually highlights the first file or folder in the file pane. A second down arrow press goes to the next file in the file pane as expected.

How do I get the down arrow behaviour to do what I want, i.e. with a folder selected in the Navigation pane, get the Down arrow to take me to the next folder down in the Navigation Pane.

In my attachment, I have selected the Program Files folder in the Navigation Pane. I expect Down arrow to highlight the ProgramData folder in the Navigation Pane but it highlights the Adobe folder in the File pane.

I am new to Classic Shell and it may be a setting I've selected causing the problem, but i can't find out which, if that's the case.

Thanks,

That is certainly strange behavior. Classic Explorer does not do anything to take the focus to the file pane by default. Maybe you have another app like Folder Options X or something installed? It has an option "Keep focus on file list view" which in fact takes the focus to the right pane.

Hi,

Yes I have Folder Options X installed and yes 'Keep focus on file list view' was checked and unchecking that option has fixed the problem :) .

Thanks for your help,
