Hey all,

I just set up a new PC for myself and I'm having trouble configuring Classic Shell to how it was on my old setup. I had it where there was no Start Button present, but left-clicking the bottom left of the screen would bring up the Start Menu (instead of the Start Screen).

It might be because I have a newer version of Shell, but why would that feature be removed on this compared to the older version I had?

If anyone could help, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks!

:D

This was never a feature. Maybe you had a tiny button in the corner? Or maybe you disabled the start button completely and were using the Win key instead of the mouse?

Dang. That was a really aesthetically pleasing setup I had, and I don't know how to repeat it!

I know for a fact I used the mouse to the bottom left of the screen. How do you think I got the button to be "tiny"? Trying it now, going negative brings back the default Shell icon and using a blank image leaves a huge gap in the taskbar.

Actually you can do this:
1. from the 'windows 8 settings' tab; the option disable active corners, needs to either be set to 'all' or 'start screen'
2. from the 'start button' tab; select a custom button (pick any picture you like because in this case it doesnt matter), and set button size to 1

Thanks loads, Jcee!!

I guess this is how I had it set up before, though I can't remember if right-click brought the newer Windows 8 context admin menu. But whatever, this is great! Thanks again!

Why not just click on the setting?

Export the "DisableHotCorner" value at HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings and merge it using regedit or reg.exe.

Changing settings externally while the start menu is running is not supported. That's pretty much how most software works.

Yes what Ivo said. Changing settings while the menu is running is not supported nor recommended. You can first safely exit Classic Start Menu in your batch file using C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe -exit parameter. Then merge the "DisableHotCorner" value whenever you want to apply that setting (after CSM has exited). Start ClassicStartMenu.exe again.
