My normal Start Menu Style is Classic with 2 columns.

While in the Start Menu, I must have accidentally selected the wrong thing. I can't remember what I was doing - but possibly deleting a recent program from the left column.

When I re-opened the Start Menu, the menu was the same as I would see by clicking Shift+Start button when Classic Start Menu is functioning correctly.

Before causing any further damage, I tried a reboot. That restored my Classic 2-column configuration.

For future use, can anyone tell me:

(a) How did I cause the Classic configuration to change to the Win 10 default with a single click?

(b) How can I restore the Classic configuration without needing to reboot?

Thanks.

Im not exactly sure what happened; but its likely that you accidentally closed out of classic shell if you right click the start button there is an 'exit' option. This would close classic shell; Restarting your pc or running the .exe should restore it in this event.

Hi @Jcee. Your analysis looks reasonable.

I closed the shell using "Exit", and restarted using the EXE. Problem solved.

Thanks.
