For anyone still on Windows 8 who wants rid of the Charms, I found this brilliant little gem here:
https://www.eightforums.com/drivers-har ... ipe-2.html

"Yes, charms is protected, but one can hide it each time it is activated.

I wrote this little app - tested on touch pad only - not sure if it will work on touch screen - but it effectively 'disables' right edge gesture side-swipe and Win+C.

Download : Uncharm.exe
SHA1: 83F57640411BB91C363B973CC16DE2BF2E01F215

Save above to a directory of your choice. Copy the path to clipboard.

Download UnCharm.xml and edit it with the path copied above.

Open taskschd and import as a new task.

Logoff and sign-in again to run the task.

NB: To Uninstall just delete the task / end it in Task Manager."

An easier way is to rename these two files in System32 folder:

Windows.Shell.Search.UriHandler.dll
Windows.UI.Search.dll

This completely removes the Charmsbar and does not take any memory.
