I downloaded and installed the software and presumed that, as with most software, that an icon to turn it on would be installed on my desktop or taskbar. Silly me . . .
I found a shell icon, but clicking on it just brings me to a settings menu. I can't seem to find anything to click on that will show me an older desktop - which is what I thought I was getting. Been messing around about a half an hour and am starting to get annoyed . . .

classic shell doesnt replace the entire desktop; it replaces the start menu, and adds a toolbar to the file browser (along with some tweaks for IE) assuming you are referring to the new start button, the first click should bring up the settings, but any clicks after that should bring up the new start menu
