I got hit with the hacker version. I knew what had happened right away (so I was able to fix it), but I didn't realize it came from classic shell until today when I read so on the home page. I have tried to uninstall, reinstall, etc. the version on my computer but it keeps giving me an error saying it needs to restart to make the necessary changes, but everytime it tries it still gives me an error regardless of if I am uninstalling or installing the new clean version. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to force an uninstall of the software? Like I said, I can't even reinstall over the version that is on my computer. I am using windows 10. Thanks in advance. |

The "hacked" version was not an installer at all. It didn't install anything, just corrupted the MBR sector. To force a manual uninstall, use the Classic Shell Utility from here: http://classicshell.net/downloads/ |

I used the classic shell utility to uninstall. I rebooted when instructed and it seemed to work fine. However, now I can't install classic shell! I keep getting an install error. |

Sorry about that, the error was: "The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2503." then right after: "The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2502." |
