hi, I just downloaded classic shell from this website, but did not install it. As soon as i downloaded I got a popup window that looked like it was from chrome with URL digitalprivacyalert.org. I closed it.
Googling it is confusing, some of the websites about how to remove it are poorly written and look suspicious themselves.

Has anyone run into this? Do I have a problem? TIA

I haven't seen the specific issue before but it appears you have some kind of adware, causing the alert.
The step-by step provided on the site you linked seems accurate enough, though I cant say if it will work. adware is often stubborn to remove. I would suggest running a virus scan. (I personally prefer windows defender, but no virus protection catches everything, so if after the steps provided, and a scan you are still seeing symptoms. you should try another anti-virus Avira, and avast are both pretty good, and have free versions (though you do have to worry about false positives, and should only run 1 of them at a time)

The genuine Classic Shell installer does not contain malware or adware. Make sure after downloading from www.classicshell.net that the file is digitally signed. To do that, just right click on the Installer and choose Properties. Verify that it has a digital signatures tab and that it says Signed by Ivaylo Beltchev and that the certificate is valid. Then you can safely install without any risk of adware or the installer being fake.
