I have a skin I wanna change the startmenu background colour for, I tried 2 ways but didn't manage to get it to work.
1) Using the settings under Menu Look>Override colour, still didn't work.
2) After reading the tutorials and messing around with the .skin file I still can't get the changes I want.

Can anyone pls guide me as to which lines to change to change the colour of the startmenu background on this skin? I'll upload the .skin file for reference. Thanks!
The colours I want to change to are actually the colours of the grey background in the original startmenu, which is specified as follows:
1) For background itself #1F1F1F
2) and for highlight when hovering over an app is #353535

Edit: on an additional note, is there any way I can add blank space on the top part of the start menu to make it more spacious on the top? Thanks again

This skin uses Metro colors. This topic should help: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4879 See the section at the end "How to change colors in the Metro-based skins".

To add space at the top, increase the main_padding's 2nd parameter. Main_padding's 4 values specify number of pixels to add on left/top/right/bottom of the menu.
