Hi All, We use classic shell on many Server 2012 R2 RDS session hosts (terminal servers). Each server has around 30 to 50 users logged in at any given time. We have had many people open help desk tickets saying the server is locking up or freezing. When we log in and diagnose the problem, we can open other programs, the system has plenty of free resources, but when we click on the star menu or taskbar it hangs, and can take up to a minute to appear. Is this a known issue with Server 2012 RDS? Is there anything we can do to resolve this? Thank you. |

You can capture a slowdown dump using these instructions: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6 That will enable the developer to determine what is causing slowdowns. If the Taskbar completely disappears and appears after a while when the Start button is clicked, that means Explorer.exe is crashing, not freezing. In that case, capture a crash dump. Compress the dumps to a ZIP file and attach them here. Upon analyzing them, the cause of the slowdowns will be revealed and the issue can be fixed in the next release of Classic Shell. |

Did you ever figure this out? I'm experiencing the same situation with Server 2012 R2 and approximately 30 RDS users. |
