My new tablet has an eMMC drive so I cannot wipe and install Windows 7. I am trying to get rid of the most annoying Windows 8.1 interface things.
I have already fixed a number of issues with registry files and Classic Shell. Right now I am trying to get rid of the thing that when you accidentally swipe down from the top of the screen, the whole Desktop goes into thumbnail mode and moves around (if you swipe it down the bottom it will even close), or the screen gets split in two... really annoying.

I tried "Disable active corners" set to "All" but it didn't work, restarted but no change.

I Googled it and found that that's how you close the new apps. The most common keyword is "drag handle" because that's what you see when you use a mouse (I don't, only touch). The two threads I found so far (see below) offer the same solution ("Disable active corners" set to "All"), any idea why it is not working for me?

I am not keen to try the other tools listed in the second thread, I'd rather use only Classic Shell.

Disable active corners affects only the mouse. The touch drag to close gesture is not affected by it. You could try using Winaero Tweaker's (http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.1836) "Modern App Closing Options" to adjust the threshold for closing using the mouse and touch. Set it to a very high value so it won't close unless you drag it all the way down.

Disclaimer: Third party tools have nothing to do with Classic Shell and it is not responsible for them.

Thanks, I downloaded the utility you recommended and the three listed in the other thread, overall it's three from winaero plus start8. I will try them out to see if they work and how well they fit with Classic Shell, but eventually I will try to replace at least one of the two with a registry file.
