Gentlemen. On Windows 7 I installed Classic Shell v4.2.4 (?) which did work. Then I did something and the Start Menu Settings window wouldn't open. So I uninstalled it, re-installed it, but that didn't help. So I installed 4.2.5 instead but still I cannot open the Start Menu Settings. I can see in Task Manager Processes that ClassicStartMenu.exe is running. Classic Explorer Settings seems to work. Oh, and I don't have any GPO set up. I altered the shortcut to run as administrator but that didn't work either. I don't know what to try now. Any suggestions? |

Don't set any Classic Shell EXEs to run as administrator. Go to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell and click the shortcutitem called 'Start Menu Settings'. Does it open? If not then something is broken on your system. You could try downloading and running the Classic Shell Utility from here (scroll down on that page): http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/. Use it to remove Classic Shell. Then reinstall the latest version using the installer. It will automatically elevate when needed so there is no need to run it as admin. |
