OK, my OCD is driving me crazy here. I just installed windows 10 on 2 basically identical computers for my kids(everything is the same except MoBo). I installed the latest version of classic shell on both. The "start button" shell is different size between the 2 though, here are pictures of each; ![]() ![]() I didn't do anything other than install classic shell and select "replace start button". I searched and searched and can not find a setting for the size of the "shell". My guess is it glitched during the install, creating the larger shell (I think the top picture is the way it is "supposed" to be, as it matches the shell size on my computer) I guess I should consider my life pretty good if this is what I have to worry about, but like I said, my OCD is driving me nuts on this. Any ideas? |

The size of the button depends on the current DPI setting. Maybe it is different between the computers? |

Right click the Start button and open Settings. In the "Search Box" of the Settings window, type: size. You can adjust the "Button size" setting to make it smaller or bigger. |

This won't work for the default button, only for custom buttons. The only explanation I can think of is a difference in DPI. Newer versions of Windows try to disguise the DPI settings with more user-friendly names like "text size" or something. |

Ah right he's using the default button. Yes, in that case, @brad1138, you can make the Classic Start menu not follow the Windows DPI by using the "Override system DPI" setting on the "Menu Look" tab. Try setting its value to 96 and then log off and login in to see the Start button size change. If it's too small, gradually increase the size and logout/login again until you find a size that fits your taskbar. Since you mentioned your two PCs have a different motherboard, the graphics chip on both can have a different resolution, hence a different DPI even if the monitors are the same. |

They both have the same Radeon HD 7850 video card, so the video is the same, but I'll check the menu look setting. Thanks |
