After installing classic shell on Server 2012 R2, internet explorer 11 seems to be running extremely slow. I didn't even install the classic ie or explorer portion so I don't know why its even messing with IE. I confirmed this by uninstalling and reinstalling the product several times and each time I install it IE slows down or freezes. I love the product but my users need the IE browser for certain applications. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to get it to stop.

There are 3 components of Classic Shell - the Start Menu, Explorer addins and IE addins. You say you didn't even install the IE or Explorer addons. That leaves only the Start Menu. If you right click the Start button while Classic Shell is installed, you can choose Exit to temporarily exit it. Then no code from Classic Shell will be active (assuming you didn't install the IE or Explorer addons). Try exiting the menu this way and then run IE.

Classic Shell does nothing to interfere with IE's operation - definitely not when the addons for IE are not even installed.
