I am attaching two pictures. The jumplist from Classic Shell is correct for me shwoing pinned and recent items. But, when I hover over the application on the task bar, I get a reduced list and no recent items. I am not sure if this is a Classic Shell or Microsoft Windows 8.1 issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Taskbar jumplist settings are different from Classic Start Menu jumplist settings even though the jumplist itself is same. Right click the Taskbar -> Properties -> Jump Lists tab and increase the number of items and turn on recent documents option too. In Windows 8.1, I think you can increase it up to 60 but in Windows 10, it is crippled and restricted.
